It’s always good to have a back-up plan just in case things don’t go as planned
More often than not, professional pet sitters are the primary caregivers but sometimes they’re not. If you have a friend caring for your pets instead of a pet sitter in order to save a few bucks, that’s great. However, just make sure there’s a back-up plan with a pet sitter in case your friend needs some help.
Before you leave town on vacation, make sure that you have emergency numbers in place for your friend including the number of a pet sitter that you have interviewed and feel comfortable with.
There’s nothing wrong with having contingency plans in place just to make double-sure your pets are taken care of.
On the other side of the coin, if you’ve hired a pet sitter as your pet’s primary caregiver during your absence, make sure that you have friends or family aware of your travel plans just in case an emergency happens with your pet sitter. More often than not, pet sitters have their own back-up plans in place just in case a tragedy befalls them. Nonetheless, in the event of a serious tragedy or death, it may be necessary for your friend or family member to resume your pet’s care. Granted, this is almost unheard of but we as a people never know what tomorrow will bring.
May this Autumn bring you safe travels and priceless memories 🙂
