We made it — KYPSAH is now in Edmore, Michgan!
After a very long, intense, six-day journey with three dogs and four cats, we made it to Michigan from California! That is a trip that we don’t recommend anyone takes UNLESS they’re able to travel in an RV. But, by God’s grace, we all made it safe and sound and without going BALD 😉
Our new home is really beautiful! Our little house is one of three houses that sit on a shared, private road. It’s very quiet and peaceful here. It’s also home to MANY critters, from raccoons to deer to chipmunks to squirrels and even WILD TURKEYS! The turkeys and the chipmunks are the ones that the squirrels and other birds have to look out for, though…LOL. When they’re around and eating, they defend their eating ground and chase off the squirrels. It has been fun to watch and provides many laughs for us.
Our property sits on 16 acres with about 15 of those acres being WOODS that are FILLED with a variety of trees such as Aspens, Maples, Birch, Oak, and Pine (there could be more than that, this is what we’ve noticed so far). In between the trees live many ferns, wildflowers and other foliage. Now that it’s Fall, the colors emerging are breathtaking! What a sight!
This property with all of its space, quietness, and peacefulness is presently missing one thing: A fence for the dogs. And, it’s something that we won’t be able to put up until next year when the weather gets better. So, this means that all pups that come over for dog boarding will not be able to run off-leash unless they are exceptional at staying under voice command and line of sight at all times. Otherwise, all dog exercise will be leash-only.

KYPSAH is Moving!
Hi All!
We have been busy since January 8, 2022, gearing up for a big move to Michigan come August 1, 2022! Because this has been a HUGE event for our family with lots of variables to manage, we have been closed for services since January 7th. However, we will be opening back up for dog boarding for the remaining days that we’ll be here in Cali.
Dog boarding will be offered here in Woodland from June 10 – July 29, 2022 — our LAST days of service in the Golden State (very bittersweet!). Oh, how we’ll miss everyone here! But, looking on the bright side, we’re excited to be moving to a place that has some acreage for the dogs (16 acres!).
We don’t have an ETA as of right now (May) on when we’ll be accepting dog boarding and training reservations (yep, we’ll be offering dog boarding/training at our new location), but we’re aiming for getting everything ready for doggy guests come September 1, 2022. We’ll also be updating the website with more info when we get closer to August 🙂

New Service Hours in Effect During Shelter-in-Place
We have a new service schedule during the Shelter-in-Place order. We will only be open for Daycare Tuesdays through Thursdays.
Boarding reservations made before March 27th, for March and April dates, will be honored. Otherwise, new boarding reservations will be on a case-by-case basis giving priority to medical and first responders, as well as, people who are critically ill that need care for their pets while they are in the hospital.

How and When We Treat Dogs
Over here, we do not treat train; we offer praise and affection as rewards. We created a short video for you to see how we work with dogs and what feeding them food looks like.
Dogs are burning many calories when they’re over here playing with their friends and playing games that build their existing skills, as well as, teach them new ones. Therefore, we give them food to make sure that they get added calories.
Just like when we give them snacks, when we feed them breakfast and dinner, we make them sit patiently before we put the food bowls down. Check out the video below!
Make 4 DIY Dog Beds — CHEAP!
With the Coronavirus taking a serious BITE out of a lot of people’s budgets, looking for cheap ways to make things has become IMPORTANT! One of those things that are beneficial to make is dog beds.
In the video below, we show you how to cover these beds.
The beds themselves are SUPER easy to make and super CHEAP! Here ya go, ready? Okay. Here’s what you need to do:
Buy two pillows (standard size at a minimum but not TOO long because they have to fit in bags);
Wrap EACH pillow in a white, kitchen size garbage bag and tie each bag (this is f0r added protection from getting wet);
Now, put both encased pillows in a large green LEAF bag;
Tie the leaf bag;
Wrap the leaf bag stuffed with the two pillows in a bedspread or comforter (larger comforters such as king size will allow you to put TWO stuffed bags together to be wrapped in order to make a larger bed–great for large dogs)
We purchase a lot of stuff from Big Lots, and receive rewards from them (Big Lots) for doing so. We purchase pillows and bags using the rewards to get HUGE savings 😀
We purchase the comforters from Goodwill.
What Our “Facility” Looks Like
Because of the Coronavirus, we are not allowing Meet and Greet interviews, which means that new clients will not have the opportunity to see where their pups will be staying–in person. We also don’t know when we’ll be able to offer Meet and Greets again. Therefore, we created a video for you so you can see our home and where the pups stay.

DIY Cheap and Easy Dog Cleaning Spray — COVID-19 Precautionary Measure!
There is a lot of anxiety about dogs attending daycare due to the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Though dogs carrying the virus on their coats (carriers) and transferring the virus to other people is considered low, the possibility is still there. As an extra precaution when dogs enter into our home to attend daycare or boarding, we are spraying their coats with a coat cleaner that is mostly made of white vinegar. We also suggest that when the dogs return home from being in our care that their owners clean their coats yet again as a safety precaution. Better to be safe than sorry, right?!
The recipe for the spray that we use contains a pure essential oil (peppermint) in a very low amount. The use of essential oils on or around dogs is quite controversial and opinions vary. We suggest that if you have any reservations about what oil or oils to use that you contact your veterinarian.
Some dogs have several allergies. For those dogs, owners will need to supply us with a waterless shampoo, spray or wipes to clean their dog’s coat with. We will return all products with the dog when the dog goes home.
As a general recipe note:Â You can simply just omit the essential oil and just use white vinegar and water.
The important thing is making sure that we’re all as clean and safe (as much as we can be) during this time of much uncertainty, as well as, keeping at least a six-foot distance between us and others.

Using a 24-ounce spray bottle
6 oz water
16 oz white vinegar
3 drops of pure peppermint oil
Having Your Dog as Your Gym Partner
With California being currently in a “shelter in place” status, a lot of people are concerned about what to do with their dogs and how they’re going to stay in shape since their gyms are closed. Well, we have you covered. In this video, Jessie shows you just a few sample moves of how you can work out effectively WITH your dog (Clem often is watching her when she is performing workouts without him but he REALLY loves it when she lets him join in).
Looking on the positive side of life, look at this time as a great OPPORTUNITY to connect even deeper with your dog! You can teach him/her new skills, incorporate him/her in your workouts (not just walks or running) and really take advantage of all of that time you have been wanting just to hang out at home.

Dealing with the Coronavirus COVID 19
Dogs Brighten Our Days
First, being a company that services people who work in a variety of industries and that often travel in and out of the country, we are trying to keep our exposure down to a low roar for the sake of our family, which consists of two disabled people (the particularly vulnerable to this virus). On this note, until further notice, we will not be facilitating Meet and Greet Interviews (where people can come check out our “facility”). Instead, we will be working on uploading and promoting even MORE videos than we currently have to include: what we look like, where the dogs sleep, how we operate, how many dogs we accept at once, what our home looks like, where the pack plays and so much more!
Videos will also be seen on our Facebook page, as well as, our YouTube channel, which we encourage everyone to like, share and subscribe to if you like the content. Who knows? We may feature YOUR pup in one of the videos!
Second, for those of you who have pups that are engaging in playtime away from home — at a dog park or even in a daycare such as ours — one way to keep your pup’s coat clean is to have a waterless dog shampoo or coat wipes handy. When they arrive home after playing, just wipe down their coat or give them a quick, waterless bath with the foam shampoo. It’s just an extra measure that will hopefully give you some peace of mind.
Third, people’s schedules are changing rapidly. They are being forced to cancel vacations, they’re losing their jobs, they’re having to stay home to watch their kids as the schools are closed and on and on. If you have a boarding reservation with us and you need to cancel, that is quite all right! We will NOT be charging people cancellation fees. Please give us at least a 48-hour cancellation notice if you can. We would really appreciate it!
We hope that you can ride out this season happy and well — finding ways to create opportunities out of whatever challenges arise. If you get a little extra time off, enjoy it with your fur-kids who we’re sure we’ll thank you for it.

Closed for Vacation September 6 – October 6
We will be closed in 2019 from September 6 through October 6 for our yearly shut-down. Though we won’t be responding to reservation requests until we reopen on Monday, October 7, existing clients can still send in your request(s) like usual via text, email, Facebook, voice mail message…whatever method you prefer.
